B
Eing a Reiki Master means more to me than having the ability to teach people how to practice Reiki. (Although it certainly resonates with my desire to help people feel empowered to handle wherever Life flows).

To me it feels as if it's a Spiritual practice that will neverendedly opens my connection with Life Itself. If you can imagine (or already enjoy) a connection to a Way of Being that inspires you to practice living it all day, every day, you are right on top of what I'm trying to express here.

That said, Reiki is not bound by any particular belief system. All you have to feel is there is more to our world than what meets the eye. Reiki is a practice that essentially clears the way for your connection to that place.

In practical terms, as conventional modern medicine has become more specialized, the human body has been dissected into increasingly smaller parts. It is now becoming increasingly clear that it is impossible to treat each "part" as if it has no connection to the "whole". As a result, medical practitioners and patients alike are literally taking matters into their own hands and exploring energetic healing methods as a way to re-connect with, and attend to, all facets of Self simultaneously.

And even though science can't yet prove how or why energy modalities work, promising studies are currently underway at such prestigious institutions as National Institutes of Health. As Pamela Miles states in her book Reiki: A Comprehensive Guide,

"To understand how Reiki works, we need to go beyond the scope of conventional medicine—but not beyond the scope of rationality. Rather, we need simply to allow ourselves to extend past the limits of what scientific technology is capable of measuring at this time."

I'm sure it won't be long before a device is developed to prove energy medicine is a "valid" form of health care. In the meantime, I must say it feels good to spend my days serving people who feel Reiki Treatments have improved their overall feeling of well-being.

Ever the inclusionist though, I also resonate with the aspect that Reiki is something that anyone can learn. And this, my fellow person of service, is the main reason I decided to receive the Reiki Master initiation.

If you are new to Reiki, there are three levels. Each level emphasizes a different facet of the Reiki system, deepens your realization of consistent, balanced feelings of well-being, and strengthens your ability to handle Life in whatever form it takes along your way.

Each level is also accompanied by an initiation connecting you to the unified field and raising your personal vibration to a higher level.

Although it is very powerful to learn Reiki within a group setting, sometimes it's not possible. It could be that you are so inspired you can't wait for a class that meshes with your schedule, or you preferred learning style is one-on-one. In either case, I am happy to accommodate.

Investment $100 ($250 individual)

No previous experience is necessary for Level 1. This is an enjoyable one-day course that gives you an understanding of Reiki and its benefits for you and those around you.

Elements covered during the course include:

  • The Precepts of Reiki, integrating awareness into daily life.
  • A brief history of Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki.
  • An explanation of the 3 levels of Reiki.
  • The chakra system, foundation of energy anatomy.
  • Vibration sensing exercises.
  • Three Pillars of Reiki, preparing to receive and share Reiki.
  • The basic Reiki hand positions & accompanying handouts.
  • A Reiki 1 Certificate and Lineage.

Although you may be wondering how we are going to get everything on this list done in a one-day class, it is important to understand that energetic modalities are most easily learned experientially. So even though lecture and handout materials will be components of the day's agenda, you will also have large blocks of time for hands-on practice to more fully integrate this course of study.

Rest assured that after completing Shoden you will have the tools to develop a Reiki practice if you wish.

Prerequisite: Reiki I

Investment $200 ($350 individual)

The main purpose of Reiki II is to learn how to offer distant Reiki to others without touch. So it does expand ones Reiki horizons and deepens ones spiritual practice, and for many, this is the only reason they need.

AND it's important to know that "more" is not necessarily better when it comes to Reiki. Once you receive you Reiki I initiation your connection in place forever. There is no need to take more Reiki training when you can infinitely deepen your connection to universal energy by simply practicing on yourself, family, friends and clients.

That said, there are a couple of compelling reasons why you may want to include a Reiki II course in your journey. One would be if you have family members living elsewhere that would like to receive a distant healing.

Another would be if you are a professional who wants to connect more deeply with those you serve yet healing touch is not within the scope, of your practice. Professions that fall into this category include teachers, nurses, social workers, guidance counselors, coaches, psychotherapists and employers.

Generally I encourage you to to practice hands-on Reiki for 3 to 6 months before enrolling in Reiki II. At the very least it is best to commit to a daily practice of self-treatment. However, since you know best about where you are in energy work, I will fully respect your decision to move more quickly.

Elements that are covered during the course:

  • Reiki II symbols and how to use them.
  • Distance healing for family, friends and world situations.
  • Reiki ethics and etiquette.
  • Developing intuition.
  • A Reiki II Certificate and Lineage.
  • Access to the Resource section of this web site.
  • The opportunity to assist in Reiki Training classes.
